4 Penn State Athletes

Two Penn State footballers, and 2 Penn State basketballers were on the receiving ends of charges brought up from a drunk St. Patties Day brawl. The football players, WR Curtis Drake and DB Derrick Thomas, and the basketball players, Tre Bowman and Taran Buie received disorderly conduct charges.

What might catch your eye is that Curtis Drake and Taran Buie were both involved. Back last July there was an altercation outside of a McDonalds where both were charged with Disorderly Conduct after a fight. An online Penn State website stated that it was just a misunderstanding and the two were friends and just horsing around.

So much for that theory.

They weren't found out until still images of the altercation were spread around by the Penn State police department. They ended up being 4 of the 234 arrested for the drunken festivities of St. Patties Day. All four players charged are under 21 years of age, but no tickets for underage drinking have been brought up, because, well the Penn State police were too slow to find them. Police LT Robb has said that Alcohol is thought to be a factor.

Derrell Johnson-Koulianos WR Iowa

Iowa WR Derrell Johnson-Koulianos was just named first team All-Big 10 by the coaches just over a week ago, and now, he's got a whole mess of trouble to deal with. In the end, Johnson-Koulianos faces a whopping 7 charges, four counts of possession of controlled substances, two counts of unlawful possession of prescription drugs and one count of keeping a drug house. During a search Tuesday afternoon of Johnson-Koulianos roommate, police found cocaine, marijuana, prescription drugs (pamoate, diazepam, hydromorphone hydrochloride and zolpidem tartrate pills [none of which were prescribed to Johnson-Koulianos]), scales, $3,000 cash, and other items used in selling drugs. Cocaine, a small amount of marijuana, and the prescription drugs (mostly painkillers) were found in Johnson-Koulianos room. Johnson-Koulianos also admitted to using marijuana less than a day before the arrest, and he took a urine test that showed that he had been using drugs. He also admitted to using cocaine and the prescription drugs, which he had acquired from friends.  He also had electronic media showing him in possession of drugs.

Presuming that this ends his Iowa career, which it likely will, Johnson-Koulianos is the all time leader for Iowa in receptions and receiving yards... and drug houses.

Baker Steinkuhler DL Nebraska Cornhuskers

Baker Steinkuhler, a starting defensive tackle for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, was arrested for DUI early Tuesday morning, and now will be out for the Holiday Bowl against Washington. Police saw Steinkuhler driving his 1993 Ford Explorer (I guess he wasn't getting improper benefits...) without it's head lights on, and also observed him making a turn without a turn signal. He was pulled over at 1:45 and a breathalyzer revealed his BAC to be .115, which is above the .08 limit. His drunk ass was taken to a detox center, and his first court date will be on January 4th. The redshirt Sophomore has started 13 games this season, racking up 46 tackles and 3.5 sacks.
