4 Penn State Athletes

Two Penn State footballers, and 2 Penn State basketballers were on the receiving ends of charges brought up from a drunk St. Patties Day brawl. The football players, WR Curtis Drake and DB Derrick Thomas, and the basketball players, Tre Bowman and Taran Buie received disorderly conduct charges.

What might catch your eye is that Curtis Drake and Taran Buie were both involved. Back last July there was an altercation outside of a McDonalds where both were charged with Disorderly Conduct after a fight. An online Penn State website stated that it was just a misunderstanding and the two were friends and just horsing around.

So much for that theory.

They weren't found out until still images of the altercation were spread around by the Penn State police department. They ended up being 4 of the 234 arrested for the drunken festivities of St. Patties Day. All four players charged are under 21 years of age, but no tickets for underage drinking have been brought up, because, well the Penn State police were too slow to find them. Police LT Robb has said that Alcohol is thought to be a factor.

Jalen Rose G Ex-Pacers

As if we didn't hear enough about Jalen Rose right now with his whole 'Fab 5' argument with Coach K, we find out that the ESPN analyst is set to appear in court in April after being cited for suspicion of drunken driving at 2am on March 11 in West Bloomfield Township, MI.

Rose declined to take a Breathalyzer test but submitted to a blood test at the hospital. The roads were icy and the officer believes the icy roads had something to do with Rose's car sliding off the road...oh really? Ya think? Ice may have helped a car SLIDE off the road? That's good, because if your pavement was making cars slide, you might have a problem. Sounds like somebody is trying to help a Michigan favorite evade trouble.
Rose had a solid 13-year career as a shooting specialist and excelled defensively until age started catching up with him and his knees couldn't handle both ends of the floor. He was the first Pacers player to lead the team in scoring in 8 years other than Reggie Miller during the 99-00 season. He led his team to the NBA finals that year but unlike his shorts in Michigan, they landed just a bit short against the Lakers.
Rose's attorney says they look forward to fully working with Michigan authorities in resolving the problem...something tells me they aren't really looking forward to it.

Update: Video and the 911 call from Jalen Rose's arrest have been released HERE.

DeAngelo Casto PF Washington State

DeAngelo Casto follows in the footsteps of Klay Thompson and Reggie Moore to become the third WSU basketball player to be arrested for possession of marijuana in just the first 3 months of 2011.

Police searched his off-campus apartment at around 1:20 AM on Tuesday morning and found the marijuana the led to him being charged with possession of less than 40 grams of marijuana. No other details have been released yet as to why they were searching his apartment in the early morning on Tuesday, but if you ask the Seattle Weekly blog it's race. Yup they just search every black mans apartment, going door to door apologizing to the whites. "Are you Caucasian? Yes? Well I'm sorry to awaken you from your slumber! Do you happen to know where any African-American's are staying? We'd like to search their apartments for drugs" That's probably not how this all happened, because you know, there is laws and rights and shit. But think what you want Keegan Hamilton, you brilliant writer you.

Three WSU football players have been arrested for marijuana possession since October 2010 as well, and GASP, they're African American. Come on Keegan, spark up this race war! Stir up the masses!

Bryan McCann CB Dallas Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys CB Bryan McCann becomes the second player arrested since the decertification of the NFLPA and the subsequent lockout of the NFL players, which means he's the second player to be arrested that won't face any kind of consequence from the league or the team. McCann was arrested at around 3:00 AM for public intoxication, though no details of the arrest have been released yet. McCann said that he is innocent until proven guilty and that he was going to fight this charge because he "wasn't intoxicated". I don't know about the laws in Dallas, Texas but where I'm from they usually don't arrest sober people, take them to detox, and make them sit there for 8 hours.  I'm going to go ahead and assume that McCann wasn't just "intoxicated" he was probably drunk off his fucking ass. Of course, in Texas it's illegal to take more than 3 sips of beer at a time while standing, so maybe that's just the case.

Bruce Pearl HC Tennessee

Tennessee got their asses handed to them by #8 seed Michigan in the first round of the big dance, losing 75-45 and being outscored by 42-16 over the last 20 minutes. Add that to the fact that Bruce Pearl was suspended over the first 8 SEC games this year due to NCAA violations you can pretty much say his future at UT is up in the air. Pearl, the president of the Jewish Coaches Association, has also never been past the Elite 8 in the big dance, and only won the DII championship once at the University of Southern Indiana. Sounds like a winner to me.

Bryson Smith CF Florida

Bryson Smith, who hit the game winning RBI against the University of Miami, was arrested for DUI early Monday morning. Smith, who rotates in and out of CF, was seen making wide turns and drifting into a curb by police and was pulled over at around 1:00 AM. According to the police report, Smith had bloodshot and glassy eyes, swayed while standing,  and performed very poorly on field sobriety tests. The report also stated that Smith admitted to having one drink as he was picking up his friends from a bar. Smith refused to take a breathalyzer, but that's fine since they got all the urine they wanted for a urine test because during the observation period he pissed all over himself. That must have been one extremely large drink.

George Karl Coach Denver Nuggets

It seems as if old Georgy Boy has earned himself a nice 3-year contract extension despite the fact that the Nuggets traded away some big names in Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups to rebuild for the near future. It is long believed that Karl was the reason Anthony indirectly demanded that he be traded away from Denver. C'mon George, what are you thinking asking a professional NBA player to rock a little D from time to time. Not baller. Karl is one of 7 coaches in NBA history to have won over 1,000 games and would like to finish his career in the Mile High City. With Danilo Gallinari, the Birdman, and an endless supply of Silver Bullets, how could he go wrong?

Venoy Overton G Washington

Washington standout Venoy Overton has averaged 6 points/game, along with 3.4 assists/game on 21.3 minutes/game has found him self in some deep trouble. More specifically deep in some 16 year old trouble.

Overton has been charged with furnishing alcohol to minors in an incident that happened back in January. Allegedly he purchased alcohol for two 16 year old girls and brought them to his sisters apartment, where they paid for the alcohol with sex. One of the two girls said that she felt like she had to have sex with him because of who he was, and after seeing the other girl do it. Then it "just happened." He wasn't charged with anything regarding that because of conflicting witness statements. The age of consent in Washington is 16, but prosecutors felt the case was troubling because of "situational pressure."

Don't feel bad for Overton, apparently he has enough money to pay the fine. Just look at the images he put on his Myspace/Photobucket, Overton on the right.

Charles Barkley PF Ex-Philadelphia 76er's

Charles Barkley is a one time NBA MVP who has made the All-Star game 11 times in 11 straight years. His off the field drinking resume is almost just as good. Along with his propensity to Gamble (once admitting to losing $2.5 million in a 6 hour period) his DUI arrest was very impressive.

He was pulled over for running a stop sign, and of course smelled like alcohol and had bloodshot, watery eyes. When asked if he had been drinking he told police, "Yes I have." When asked how much he had drank, he responded, "A couple, I could give you a bullshit answer but I didn't." He was then administered field sobriety tests which he failed, and refused a breathlyzer because his body guard, a police officer, told him to.  Police said he was very respectful during the entire situation and he wasn't treated any differently, but apparently he respectfully told police officers that he ran the stop sign because he was "in a hurry to pick up a 'hot' girl for sex." He told the officer, "You want to know the truth? I was gonna drive around the corner and get a blow job," and then explained that he got a blow job from her a week earlier and it was the best in his life. In the jail, he told a jail employee that he's get "my name tattoo'd on your ass" to get him out of the DUI charge, before his drunk ass corrected himself and said he's get "your named tattoo'd on my ass".  His BAC was .149 and he spent 10 days in jail (roommates with rapper DMX) for the arrest.

Barkley was enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006

Tember Marchant PG Darton College

Okay, you're 18 years old. You've been drinking, and you need to get home. SHIT, it's raining. Fuck my ass what to do? Well just drive -- BUT BE CONSPICUOUS. Okay, easy on the gas. Shit is that a cop?  Okay, it was just a van full of blind children.

What do you do next? If you answered run a stop sign and T Bone a cop car, that's probably the wrong answer. But that's exactly what 18 year old freshman Tember Marchant did. Now she has something to be known for other than "the only white girl on the Darton basketball team" After the accident she wasn't hurt badly, but had to crawl out of the cruisers other door to get out. There were 4 other people in the car who being best friends scattered and got away.

The best part of this -- and the social media world we live in -- is to look at her tweets from that night.

First tweet from the night states:

@TemberMarchant3 : Tonight is gonna be so good. Leggo! Imma be lookin fly as hell! #Holla@me

Next tweet from her better explains her night:

@TemberMarchant3 : Ohhhhh hell yeah. Party started. I got my drink and my 2 step.. Technically my WOP.

2 Tweets later must be after the damage happened:

@TemberMarchant3 : Probably the worst night of my life.

I don't know where Darton College is, or what division they are even in, but they just beat Albany Technical College but lost to Georgia Perimiter

Klay Thompson G Washington State

Washington States star guard Klay Thompson leads the team in points and assists, and they recently got a big victory against USC. UCLA comes up next on the schedule, and he won't be playing. Why bench your best player? Well because he partied a little toooooo hard after the victory.

Klay, who's father was selected #1 overall in the 1978 NBA draft, was arrested for marijuana possession which led to his suspension. He was pulled over at around 11:00 PM for driving with a busted headlight. Police smelled marijuana coming from the car, which only he was in, and asked him if he had been smoking. Stupidly, because the cops have probable cause at that point to search the car, he said that he hadn't been smoking. He was put in handcuffs and when police acquired a search warrant they found 1.95 grams of marijuana. He was given a citation and released with a future court date.

Thompson leads the Pac-10 in scoring and scored 22 points against USC.

Coco Crisp CF Oakland A's

31 year old Oakland Athletics CF Coco Crisp, who has also played for the Cleveland Indians, Boston Redsox, and Kansas City Royals, was celebrating spring training a little too hard when he got arrested for suspicion of DUI. He becomes the third MLB player arrested for DUI since spring training started.

Driving his Rolles Royce, he was pulled over for failing to maintain his lane of traffic. He took sobriety tests, which he obviously failed, and was arrested with no further incidents.

The Oakland A's released the following statement regarding the situation:

"Coco Crisp was arrested and detained early this morning under the suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. He was released from the city of Scottsdale jail this morning and arrived at Phoenix Municipal Stadium on time for team pregame drills. The A's are aware of the situation and take such matters seriously. The team and Coco will have no further comment until further details are available."

Patrick Kane RW Chicago Blackhawks

From Deadspin, more pictures of notorious partier All Star Chicago Blackhawks RW Patrick Kane drinking have been released to the internet. There probably isn't a more expensive cup in the world than the Stanley Cup, and Kane uses it to its full glory, as well as allowing some hotties to use it. Of course this season Kane has been accused of missing practices due to a hangover, or as the team called "flu like symptoms".  Living the life.

Austin Kearns OF Cleveland Indians

Way back on February the 12th Austin Kearns, the former member of the New York Yankees, Cincinnati Reds, Washington Nationals, and current Cleveland Indians was arrested for DUI. He was followed by a cop who saw him flashing his headlights and weaving through traffic, and when pulled over he admitted to drinking "a couple" of bourbon and cokes. He refused to take a field sobriety tests and asked the officers to cut him a break. However they didn't and he was cuffed and booked. Then, not on top of things, he didn't tell the Indians about the arrest, however he will be addressing it soon.

Matt Skole IF Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech 3B Matt Skole was suspended from Georgia Tech for the 2nd game of the season this year for "violation of team rules". Apparently driving drunk is against team rules. Skole must have skimmed that page.

Skole allegedly crossed the center line multiple times before being pulled over by the police. When pulled over police noticed that his eyes were watery and bloodshot, and Skole admitted to drinking a bourbon and coke. The All-ACC performer last season refused a breathalyzer and was charged with failure to maintain lane and and DUI.

Skole is projected to be drafted in the 3rd round of the 2011 MLB draft.
